True Gospel

What is more important, or greater, than the Gospel of our living God (Psalm 92:5-6, Romans 11:33-36, Isaiah 46:9-10), the true God (Romans 1:16)?

All religions try and answer one question; “How can man, be right with God?” For every man knows that there is a fundamental difference between himself and the Creator. They may suppress this so that they may continue in their wickedness (Romans 1:19-25), but ultimately the wages of their actions must be paid out (Romans 6:23). So often we hear, “God is a God of Love.” And this is true. God IS Love (1 John 4:8-10). But God is also

  1. Great & Perfect (Psalm 95:3, Daniel 9:4, Psalm 104:1, Psalm 145:3, Psalm 77:13, Psalm 86:10, Psalm 95:3, Psalm 135:5, Deuteronomy 32:3, I Chronicles 16:25, Psalm 104:1, Psalm 111:2, Psalm 138:5)
  2. Eternal, Self-Existing & Immutable (Exodus 3:14, Isaiah 40:28, Daniel 7:9, Revelation 1:8, Job 36:26, Psalm 90:2, Psalm 90:4, II Peter 3:8Matthew 28:20)
  3. Omnipotent, Omnipresent & Omniscient (Jeremiah 32:17, Jeremiah 23:23-24, Genesis 17:1; Revelation 4:8; Revelation 19:6, Psalm 31:2, Luke 1:49)
  4. Righteous (Psalm 89:14, Psalm 7:9, Deuteronomy 32:4, Job 36:23, Psalm 36:6, Psalm 119:142, Jeremiah 9:24)
  5. Faithful (Psalm 36:5, Psalm 100:5, Psalm 146:6, Hosea 11:12, I Peter 4:19)
  6. Lord Over All (I Timothy 1:17, Psalm 97:9, Isaiah 57:15, Psalm 113:4-6, Acts 17:24, I Timothy 6:15, Psalm 47:2, 7; Malachi 1:14, Daniel 4:37, Revelation 17:14, Revelation 19:16)
  7. True & Truthful (Jeremiah 10:10, Numbers 23:19, John 17:3, I Thessalonians 1:9)
  8. Lawgiver & Judge (Psalm 9:7-8, Hebrews 9:27, James 4:12, II Timothy 3:16-17, Job 34:21-23, Psalm 33:13-15, Proverbs 5:21, Proverbs 15:3, Jeremiah 17:10, Hebrews 4:13)
  9. Creator & Sustainer (Genesis 1:1, Romans 11:36, Nehemiah 9:6, Jeremiah 10:12, John 1:2-3, Colossians 1:16, Hebrews 3:4, Hebrews 11:3, Job 12:10, Job 34:14-15, Colossians 1:17)

…and most importantly, GOD IS HOLY (Isaiah 6:1-3).

The holiness of God means that He transcends the moral corruption of His creation and is separated from all that is profane and sinful. God cannot sin, cannot take pleasure in sin, and cannot have fellowship with sin. It is impossible to overemphasize the importance of God’s holiness. What we understand about this attribute will influence every aspect of our relationship with God. As the Scriptures declare in Proverbs 9:10, “… the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” (THE ONE TRUE GOD, Paul Washer)

God is not like us, just bigger; God isn’t like us at all. He is infinitely more valuable than all of us combined. And He has given us a commandment (Deuteronomy 6:5).

…And you and me and your parents and your children and every human else who has every walked the face of this planet, has FAILED to do just that (Romans 3:23).

Our Response to God’s Holiness

God is holy, holy, holy! Although we have sinned against Him and made ourselves an abomination before Him, He has reconciled us who believe to Himself through the death of His own Son (Jesus Christ – Matthew 1:21). How shall we live in response to this great truth? How shall we live before a holy God?

We must be converted. Our sinful, wretched hearts need to be removed and replaced with a heart of flesh that loves God (Ezekiel 36:24-32). We are told to call on the name of the Lord, confess and repent of our sins (transgressions) against God and to submit to Christ as Lord. You must be born again (John 3:3).

Below is a series of messages, preached by Paul Washer, on the True Gospel. You are encouraged to listen. Perhaps you have never heard God’s word this way. Perhaps you have. Either way, I post it that God may be glorified, that man may forsake his way and draw near to the Lord while He may be found (James 4:8). The bible say that “today is the day of salvation (2 Chronicles 6:2) and that tomorrow is not promised (James 4:14).  I tell you this, not so you can thank me, envy me, or even feel ashamed for me. I tell you this because it’s true. I earn nothing from this site and seek nothing other than the Lord God be glorified.

Listen for yourself…what do you have to lose (Mark 2:17)?
